Rich Tatum > Succulents? In Michigan?
My mother-in-law lives in the non-arid climes of Western Michigan. And she loves cacti and succulents.

Go figure.

Rich Tatum > Not a Palm. Not a Tree.
Just a portion of a bush wherein I stuck my camera with my hand to dry to get something interesting.

Rich Tatum > Moss. (Or, photography for the lazy.)
Sitting in a recliner, fiddling with my camera, I look around. what do I see? A plant no more than two feet fromme. And, even better, some tangly, twisty moss in the pot.

Before the observation has even been completed, I have already taken the shot.

I am supremely lazy.

Rich Tatum > Being Vein
This is one of a couple sets of leaves sandwiched between plastic that sit in my mother in law's kitchen window.

When the light hits them just right, they look like little stained glass windows. So, today, when it was only about 2-degrees below zero outside, I figured it was a good time to shoot these from within the warmth of the cozy kitchen.

Came out nicely. This one seems so gritty, it sucks me in with its texture.

Rich Tatum > Tranquil (2 of 2)
While using a friend's many, many megapixel Canon, I took this shot of a dewey park ground at one of my favorite Tennessee haunts.

There's nothing particularly interesting in this photo, but something about it still appeals to me. I thought i'd use the same photo to provide two variations. Try the first one, too.

This is the closer of the two crops and it's only really doable since the camera I was using gave me 12 megapixels to work with. Sadly, I had to return the camera a week after I took this shot. :: sniff ::

All in all, I liked the Canon for giving me lots of pixels to work with, but compared to my itty-bitty Nikon digicam, I did find it bulky. And the colors seemed disappointingly unsaturated.

Rich Tatum > Glass marbles in a glass vase in a glass house -- with flowers. (2 of 2)
As with the other one, this too is best viewed at larger sizes.

While wandering through the Fred Meijer Garden in GRR Michigan, the light coming through the glasshouse windows and striking this vase full of flowers was striking. Unfortunately, the background's rather busy. I tried darkening and blurring it a bit more, but, still, it's best viewed large.

While not my own, there are marbles here!
